Carl Edwards brought down the house this weekend in Las Vegas, taking the win on the redesigned track. Thanks to the redesign and the new generation of NASCAR's, the racing proved to be tight and exciting to watch for the 155,000 fans in attendance. There were also a lot of dramatic crashes, arguably the most dramatic being Jeff Gordons crash. As a result of his crash resulting in minor injuries, he requested some safety changes to be done to the track, including the conversion of some walls to "soft" walls.
In a post race tech inspection, Edwards was penalized for the oil cap being tampered with, and suffered a fine.
