With the factories pulling out of the superstock class, the podium was left essentially wide open. The race itself proved to be great, with lots of passing early on, and with certain Privateers getting great TV time to showcase their skill and equipment.

The Supersport race was dramatic right off the bat, Josh Herrin, Ben Bostrom, Josh Hayes and Roger Hayden all battled for the podium initially. Josh Hayes had a problem with his exhaust pipe falling off early on in the race. He was eventually black flagged which killed his podium hopes. Herrin and Bostrom walked away from Hayden, who was racing with a fractured arm. They continued to swap positions for the entire race, with Herrin attempting to make a pass from the draft on the final lap. Bostrom showed his experience by blocking the low line and not allowing Herrin by, winning by .01 seconds.
