The 2 day event, featuring 6 different motocross disciplines was a huge success, where records were set, bikes were broken, and history was made.
Motocross World Championships
Best Trick
Scott Murray backed up his claim to be able to perform the
double back flip in competition, by successfully landing the trick and
taking the win. Scott is the second person to ever be able to perform
the trick, after Travis Pastrana set the standard, which stood for over
two years. Thomas Pages of France took silver, and Todd Potter, third.
Supermoto
Mark Burkhart, X Games and AMA Supermoto Champion struggled from 9th
place to take the gold medal in this weekends Supermoto Race. Fighting
off Troy Herfoss and Jeff Ward for the win. This adds yet another notch
on the belt of Burkhart who as of late is untouchable in all things
Supermoto.
Speed and Style
This new event mixed the Freestyle riders with the Racers to see
who had the best overall package. Nate Adams proved he had the total
package this weekend, with a final score of 94.5. This put him in front
of Ronnie Renner, and Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg.
Step Up
Ricky Carmichael was completely dominant in day 1 of the step up
event, but as they moved in to day 2, it looked like he was going to
run away with the gold, when a hard landing cut him, which led to him
being pulled from the event. He was going to continue in the
competition, but it was just not allowed. Thus, the results were skewed
a bit, giving Matt Buyten the win, followed by "Twitch" and Todd
Potter.
Race
The race was a little bit of a different format from the typical
AMA Style competition. The heat races, and the main event were much
shorter, which encouraged much more aggressive riding.
